Valluno Cornbread
Ingredients
1 cup of Sifted yellow cornmeal
1 cup of Sifted wheat flour
1 cup of Milk
1 Egg
1 ½ teaspoon of Yeast
4 tablespoons of Melted and warm lard
1 teaspoon of Sugar
½ teaspoon of Salt
1 Medium cheese
Preparation
Step 1 : Warm the milk and mix it with the cornmeal, yeast, wheat flour, lard, sugar, and salt.
Step 2 : Add the egg and knead everything well on a floured surface.
Step 3 : Cut the resulting dough into small pieces and shape them into round breads.
Step 4 : Optionally, fill them with a piece of cheese in the center.
Step 5 : Brush with diluited lard and let rest until they double in size.
Step 6 : Then, place them in previously buttered tins and bake in a hot oven until golden.
Step 7 : These breads cook faster than usual.
