No matter how much one loves onions, whether used in the traditional sauce or as the main ingredient in broths, it's common to encounter onions with a very strong, very acidic taste. Extra-intensely flavored onions are unpleasant to eat, at least for many.

No matter how much one loves onions, whether used in the traditional sauce or as the main ingredient in broths, it's common to encounter onions with a very strong, very acidic taste. Extra-intensely flavored onions are unpleasant to eat, at least for many.

The easiest way to solve the problem of acidic onions is by slicing them after peeling them thoroughly. Immediately afterward, let them marinate in a mixture of oil and pure lemon juice. After about twenty minutes, the concentrated, acidic flavor will have diminished drastically. Another alternative is to simply run hot water over the slices for a while, but this option is not always effective and may prompt you to consider using water more consciously at home.
