This Saturday will host the Sandwich Fair of chola, avocado, sucumbé, and anticucho, on Julio Patiño Street in the San Miguel area. The culinary event will include the participation of 80 homemade vendors.
The fair is organized by the South Sub-mayoralty, aiming to strengthen the economic development of this productive sector and to valorize the traditional flavors of La Paz cuisine, which maintain a unique way of preparing food and are passed down from generation to generation.
Elizabeth Morales, head of the Economic Promotion Unit of the Municipality, announced that vendors from the Lanza, Antofagasta, San Antonio, Irpavi, Corazón de Jesús, Cota Cota, 29 de Enero, 16 de Julio, and Las Cholas markets will participate in the fair.
According to the official, the vendors will sell the chola sandwich for 12 Bolivianos, the avocado one for five Bolivianos, the anticucho for seven, and sucumbé sparkling wine with a small singani shot for eight Bolivianos. The Municipal Customs Office will oversee the food safety of each sales booth.
"The vendors will start setting up their stalls at 15:00, and from 17:00 they will begin offering their products. This was decided during the coordination meeting held on Thursday," she stated.
Contest
While selling their sandwiches, 45 vendors will participate in a contest to test the taste of their creations. According to Morales, the categories will be three: chola sandwich, avocado sandwich, and anticucho. The top three will be awarded with baskets and surprise prizes sponsored by various companies.
The jury, composed of gastronomes and municipal authorities, will announce the winners immediately. Selection criteria will include presentation, preparation, and other culinary aspects.
